We’ve all heard the stories of people dropping out of college to work on their startups, living on their friends’ couches, or quitting their jobs.

From the ‘Aha’ moments to the first client, some ambitious entrepreneurs take this to the next level, going the extra mile to make their businesses successful. In our new series called “The Startup Story” we share the raw and uncut version of the stories behind your favorite startups.

Introducing Foodie Dairies: As the name suggests this is ideally a food blog that shares experiences of people in restaurants, ‘chop bars’ café’s etc. in Ghana.  In this digital age, blogs play an essential role in the dissemination of information and Foodie Diaries seeks to be the go to platform for all restaurant reviews.


How it all started ?

Foodie Diaries was incorporated in October 2017.  It started as a dare or more so as a joke. Jacqueline and I have very restrictive careers and our greatest source of stress relief is trying out food from many of our diverse restaurants and food joints in Ghana.  My life as a banker for the past 4 years involves always being on my best behavior and giving the absolute best customer service. I work in an industry where Mystery Shopping is the absolute order of the day, so one night I went out with some friends to a very popular lounge in Accra, after being ushered in and given the menus by the barista, I realized we had been sitting down unattended to for close to 10 minutes, but every customer that was of a different race that walked in was being waited on hand and foot.  So I managed to signal one of the baristas over and just politely said,   “My Dear, I don’t mean to be rude but is this a racist restaurant? “ . To say she was shell-shocked is an understatement lol. You know BLACK LIVES STILL DO MATTER   !!!  Immediately I got home, I called ‘Jacquéè’ and said,” Look it’s enough, we are starting a foodie blog “

Our Goal:

We hope to be the GO TO site for all the best and worst restaurant reviews


Our Brand:


  • Our mission is to just walk into a restaurant / cafe unannounced and be given the absolute best service and post a circumspect and impartial review about their food and service.


  • We support the UNDERDOGS ; the unknown restaurants , the diamond in the rough chop bar , the roadside Waakye seller whose Waakye is fantastic but no one knows about .


  • We also promote made in GHANA goods ; that is restaurants , joints , chop bars, tilapia joints , pork joints , khebab joints , fruit stands etc and occasionally we globetrot and talk about the food we have tried out
