Blossom Academy is Ghana’s first data science accelerator that trains top talent from West Africa and connects them to the global job market as distributed team members. Its initial approach is to equip recent university graduates in Ghana with the necessary skills, tools and resources needed to be a successful data scientist.

The academy uses a rigorous admission process to recruit, develop, and assign candidates to various data-centric industries globally.

In its first admissions round, they received over 950 applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, including statistics, actuary science, and software engineering. Working closely with a team of experts from leading institutions, the academy was able to select its first cohort.

Blossom’s training model is simple and modern. It has both in-person and online programs that fit the schedules of its fellows. Fellows are challenged with data-related assignments and real-world projects from tech startups.

Fellows who successfully complete modules and assignments are employed within the academy’s analytics division under a 2 year contract. While under this contract, the academy helps fellows secure certification and other data science industry expertise needed via continuing education programs.

Blossom Academy is able to deliver on its promise due to the great partnerships it has with organizations like DataCamp, IBM Big Data, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and others.

Boilerplate

Blossom Academy is providing an innovative hyper-personalized talent acquisition solution for the world’s best tech startups and a one-year training for top talent in West Africa. It recruits, develops, and deploys industry-specific data science talent, enabling their partner companies to grow and succeed. Through online and on-campus sessions, it creates a pathway for university graduates with diverse backgrounds to build the knowledge, skills, and abilities to reach their potential as data science professionals.

Students who successfully complete the program are then employed with the analytics division of Blossom Academy, under a 2-year contract, along with industry certification and continuing education. With its specialized talent development strategy, the analytics division of Blossom Academy empowers clients to visualize their data to extract meaningful insights, personalize their products and services, and reduce costs associated with recruiting, training, and mis-hiring.
